Former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammed Adeeb, who filed the petition, accused the state Chief Secretary and the DGP of failing to comply with the court's directions regarding measures to curb communal and violent sentiments that result in hate crimes.
The issue of Gurgaon's Muslims being stopped from offering namaz in open spaces, including government-owned land, every Friday for the past few months reached the Supreme Court on Thursday, after an ex-Rajya Sabha MP filed a plea.
The move has drawn a sharp reaction from a right-wing outfit, who accused him of instigating people and warned against prayers in the open on Friday. The petition has been filed by Mohammed Adeeb, also a resident of Gurugram.

Hyderabad: Shashi Tharoor has expressed his discontent over the induction of former Hindu Mahasabha leader into the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress party.
Babulal Chaurasia, the former Hindu Mahasabha councillor from Gwalior, was inducted in the party on March 25 in the presence of former chief minister and now Congress chief Kamal Nath.
Reacting to the induction of Chaurasia into the grand old party, Shashi Tharoor said, “We must know what we believe in & stand for.”
