Settlement includes no admission of liability in billing dispute

NEWARK - A South Jersey doctor and his medical practice have agreed to pay $106,000 to settle a dispute over bills submitted for Medicaid and Medicare patients. The payments will resolve a whistleblower suit brought against Dr. Vedat Obuz and his practices, Lotus Family Medicine of Delran and Lotus Clinics of Trenton, said the U.S. Attorney s Office for New Jersey. The settlement contains no admission of liability or wrongdoing, and is not to be construed as that,” the doctor s attorney, Mohamed Nabulsi of Roseland, said Tuesday. “The decision to settle was a practical one intended to close a chapter of his life that devastated his life wrongfully,” the Essex County attorney said. “We believe our client has done nothing improper.”
