Juanita Craft’s legacy lives on in South Dallas and NAACP youth
Dallas natives have described Juanita Craft as an icon who had great influence on the Civil Rights Movement. In an effort to keep her name and legacy alive, local groups have committed to restoring her home where she taught youth about civil rights during a time of racial tension and unrest, while a local youth group has committed to carrying mission on the to the next generation.
On Feb. 9, 1902, in Round Rock, Juanita Craft was born and her legacy began.
Her work in the Dallas community as a civil rights advocate and a politician coined her as one of the most influential activists in her community, according to Craft’s biography.

BERLIN, CT Each year, two seniors from each member high school are selected to represent their school as the Connecticut Association of Schools – Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CAS-CIAC) Scholar-Athletes. Selection criteria include exemplary academic and athletic careers; personal standards and achievements that are a model to others; and high levels of integrity, self-discipline, and courage. Berlin High School is proud to announce that this year s Scholar-Athlete Award recipients are Jacob Lindsay and Jenna Zup. Both Jacob and Jenna are exemplary students and athletes who maintain a healthy, productive balance between academic and extracurricular activities so they can put their best efforts into all of their commitments. Jacob and Jenna will be recognized as the Berlin High Scholar-Athletes during a virtual event that will be broadcast via local television in the near future.

Srija Chereddy named Student of the Month
Emerson House is proud to announce Srija Chereddy, daughter of Mr. Srinivasulu Chereddy and Ms. Sreedevi Chereddy as Student of the Month for September. Srija is currently enrolled in a variety of rigorous courses, including four Advanced Placement classes. These Advanced Placement courses include Literature, Computer Science, Statistics, and Chemistry. Additionally, Srija is taking Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra through a local college. As a junior, Srija earned the prestigious honor of being named an Emerson House Class Marshal, leading the class of 2020 into their graduation ceremony.
