americans. messy and complicated, definitely not the model minority that asians are stereotypically branded as being. so why was it important for you, not only being in the movie, directing the movie, why was so important for you to avoid clichés and stereotypes and saying, you know, what we re just gonna let all hang out there? well, you know. i hear the words messy and complicated and i equate that with being human. and that is the thing i love about these characters. they are so human and flawed, but trying their best. and i think that, you know, i can see myself in each of these characters, and i can recognize my own flaws and my own shortcomings, and i don t know. i think it is really important for us to just kind of present ourselves as we are. and it is good to have perfect portrayals as well, and heroes, and beautiful people on screen.
