Cutesy Komatsu Micro Excavator to Run on Swappable Honda Batteries

It’s not only the automotive world that is trying to find ways of reducing its impact on the environment. We are already witnessing the aviation industry joining the party as well and, more recently, construction equipment companies are doing the same.

Honda is developing a home charger for upcoming electric two-wheelers

Honda is working hard to expand its swappable battery platform, and is also developing a home charger for batteries. Click here to find out how these efforts will benefit future Honda EVs.

Honda Announces Electrification Plan: 100% BEVs And FCVs By 2040

Honda Announces Electrification Plan: 100% BEVs And FCVs By 2040 Apr 23, 2021 at 11:16am ET ++ The first target is to achieve 40% BEV/FCV sales by 2030, then 80% by 2035 and finally 100% by 2040. Honda s new CEO Toshihiro Mibe has announced a major electrification push with a focus on battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). The company 40% (in all major markets) by 2030 80% (in all major markets) by 2035 100% (globally) by 2040 The approach will differ between the markets. Major motorcycle companies will electrify, eventually

The Harley-Davidson LiveWire is the only mainstream produced electric motorcycle, but it won t be the last. Major motorcycle manufacturers largely have remained on the sidelines of the industry’s electrification effort. Honda, Yamaha and Harley-Davidson account for roughly two-thirds of the global motorcycle market, yet the only electric motorcycle (e‑motorcycle) between the three companies in production is the Harley-Davidson LiveWire a $30,000 bike priced out of reach for most consumers. E-motorcycles have struggled to catch on as quickly as other electric two-wheel vehicles such as e-bikes and e-scooters. While there are practical reasons for this, including the extensive range requirements of typical motorcycle consumers (250 miles or more), another primary impediment has been the lack of participation from major motorcycle manufacturers. The analysis from Guidehouse Insights suggests major motorcycle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will rapidly increase their in

Swappable batteries on the horizon: Giants team up to make swap-in, swap-out battery packs a reality

The big issue with battery swapping has always been the cost of the infrastructure. If there are to be enough batteries in circulation, this would require enormous investment by a manufacturer. If every company used a different battery type, it would be both expensive and wasteful. However, if a battery in a docking station fits multiple bikes, it becomes more viable. Considering customer convenience, standardisation of swappable batteries and wide adoption of battery systems is vital, which is why the four member manufacturers agreed to form the Consortium, says Noriaki Abe, Managing Officer of Honda’s motorcycle operations. Honda views improving the customers’ usage environment as an area to explore cooperation with other manufacturers, while bringing better products and services to customers through competition. Honda will work hard on both fronts to be the ‘chosen’ manufacturer for customer mobility.
