A gang of suspects linked to a string of serious and violent crimes in the Sekhukhune area has been arrested, Limpopo police confirmed on Wednesday.
The five men, aged between 34 and 45, were nabbed at their homes during a joint operation between Limpopo police s provincial tracking team, provincial investigations unit, Limpopo police s highway patrol team and Jane Furse police officers.
They were arrested in connection with 10 cases of murder, ATM bombings, safe blasting and business robberies allegedly committed in the area over several months.

Soldier among seven people remanded in custody for public violence

Pretoria - The Namakgale magistrate s court in Limpopo has remanded in custody seven people including a member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) who were arrested for public violence.
The SANDF’s Tshepo Malungani, aged 53, appeared in court on Thursday alongside his co-accused Ngwako Monyela who is 30, Katlego Malatji, 29, Maredzi Malatji aged 34, Lebogang Shokane aged 28, Khali Malatji aged 32 and 48-year-old Joe Masilo Mashale.
“They were remanded in custody and their case was postponed to the 20 April 2021 for bail application and further police investigations,” Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said in a statement.

Johannesburg - Two suspects who were arrested in connection with a house robbery at the residence of a Limpopo mayor appeared at the Phalala Magistrate s Court on Thursday.
The suspects, Joao Antonio Lucas and Portia Kgama, were remanded in custody until their next appearance on Wednesday, April 21.
The police said Lucas was also facing similar house robbery charges in KZN, where he had also been denied bail in those matters. He is expected to appear in court on May 31 on those KZN-related house robbery cases.

Johannesburg - The seven suspects involved in the Phalaborwa public violence, which saw pupils being hindered from going to school, have appeared at the Namakgale Magistrateâs Court.
The suspects are Ngwako Monyela, 30, SANDF member Tshepo Malungani, 53, Katlego Malatji, 29, Maredzi Malatji, 34, Lebogang Shokane, 28, Khali Malatji, 32, and Joe Masilo Mashale, 48, have been remanded in custody after the case was postponed until next Tuesday, April 20.
They were arrested earlier on Thursday morning for partaking in alleged violent protests which saw the town of Phalaborwa disrupted as they blocked roads, preventing pupils from going to school and people from getting to work. Shops had to be closed as well and additional police had to be deployed to the area to quell the violence.
