Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to campaign for BJP candidates in Mizoram s Mamit town on October 30 ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in the state. Other prominent BJP leaders such as J P Nadda, Rajnath Singh, and Nitin Gadkari will also join the campaign trail. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who is currently in Mizoram, has been appointed as the BJP s election in-charge for the state. The BJP has fielded candidates in 23 seats, with a focus on linguistic minority areas. Elections will be held on November 7, with counting on December 3.
The upcoming assembly elections in Mizoram will be closely watched in four key constituencies. Aizawl East-I will see a straight fight between Chief Minister Zoramthanga of the MNF and ZPM s vice-president Lalthansanga. Serchhip, a much-discussed constituency, will witness a battle between ZPM leader Lalduhoma, MNF s J Malsawmzual Vanchhawng, and Congress R Vanlaltluanga.
