New Delhi: A high voter turnout was recorded in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry assembly elections on Tuesday (April 6), with the Congress along with its allies like the DMK locked in a keen contest to regain turf in South India.
In Kerala, where the Left is hoping to beat anti-incumbency to retain power, a feat unseen in four decades, while the BJP is making efforts to build inroads, nearly 74 percent polling was recorded till 7 PM. There was 63.47 percent voting in Tamil Nadu for 234 assembly constituencies and 77.90 percent in Puducherry till 5 PM.

NEW DELHI: The stage is set for the busiest day of the ongoing election season with all the five states/UT West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry going to polls on April 6.
The polling will be held in a single-phase in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry while Assam will witness its third and final round of voting on Tuesday. In Bengal, this will be the third round in the eight-phase elections ending April 29.

Voting will be held across 475 seats in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry on April 6, Tuesday, the busiest day of the ongoing election season. Tamil Nadu will have a contest for 234 seats, Kerala for 140 seats, Assam for 40 constituencies, Bengal for 31 seats, and Puducherry for all 30 seats. Apart from assembly elections, two Lok Sabha seats â Malappuram and Kanyakumari â will also vote on the same day.
