India News: Mizoram chief minister Lalduhoma has said his government would continue providing assistance to refugees from Myanmar and internally displaced people .
During their meeting in Delhi on Thursday, Shah discussed with Lalduhoma the importance of collecting biometric data of foreigners, which the previous state government had refused to do.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma told PM Modi that current border with Myanmar was forced upon the two ethnic groups without their prior consent. Over 38,000 people from Myanmar have taken refuge in Mizoram since the military coup in February 2021. Another 1,000 people from the Chittagong hill tracts of Bangladesh had also come to Mizoram.
The MLAs who have been appointed as advisors include Lalmuanpuia Punte (political), T.B.C. Lalvenchhunga (finance), H. Ginzalala (technical) and Lorrain Lalpekliana Chinzah (health and family welfare and agriculture). In order to accommodate ruling party MLAs in government positions, several northeastern states appoint them as advisors to the Chief Minister, ministers, or as chairman of autonomous bodies and PSUs.
