The bursting of the real estate bubble and the Great Recession sent shocks into the Housing Market that are still with us today. Owners who lost their houses become renters by the thousands. Owners trying to sell and recover their equity, found markets frozen, and started renting their properties because they couldnt unload them. Incomes grew grudgingly in the years of the slow recovery of the job market, so people reaching ages where they might have imagined buying homes are still renting. Buying a home felt risky. Thats one set of variables. In specific markets the number of young people grew faster than the population over all.
