Following closely tonight. Metro is apologizing for a breakdown that affected 911 and 311 calls for several hours. The communitys lifeline literally went dead for 30 to 50 minutes yesterday while metro worked to reroute emergency calls to henderson and north las vegas. In all. It took about 6 hours to get metros 911 system back up. Technicians have been working around the clock to diagnose the problem. But they still dont have any answers. And metro doesnt know how many calls were lost while the system was down. 20 16 06 asst. Sheriff tom roberts we realize 911 system is a lifeline for our community. And when someone calls, theres an expectation that someone will be on the other end to answer that call for help.
