And it is rare to see people of color leading these teep of conversations. I live in the southeast part of the San Francisco bayview district. A neighborhood that hasnt been prioritized in our mission and some of you have other neighborhoods where people of color live and work and try to safely navigate their streets, like the fillmore district, omi and chinatown. Throughout my time as a board member, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition has made some steps to engage with people of color from these communities, but we were widely told by our predominantly white membership to just focus on bikes. It is disheartening to be dismissed, however one thing i want people of color to know and remember is the streets belong to us too. These bike lanes, parks and other livable spaces belong to us and bike to anywhere everywhere day is also our day. Immigrants hang in the balance. Shannon is joining us now from the north lawn with the latest on negotiations. We are now hearing from the House Minority leader nancy pelosi saying there is no point in another stopgap bill without a daca deal. They seem to be pretty far apart. Shannon right. Jeff flake may think they are caused a deal. Lindsey graham may think they are close, but democrats think otherwise, and a lot of this will come down to where they are able to reach an agreement on the wall. Risk a building entity from their supporters if there is money for a wall. Trumps base and hartline supporters want that wall. They will not settle for anything less. There have been some talks about maybe a walllite. Something that looks like a wall and acts like a wall, but democrats can call it a fence and republicans can say they got a wall. Something we saw last year when there was a deal reached, with her was a great money to Border Security and repairs to fencing, but not an actual wall.
Almost everybody upset. Reporter Hagerstown Police have charged the mother and uncle as you said with Second Degree murder for allegedly contributing to the 9yearold boys death. Jack garcia died on july 5th after police say he was beaten on june 30th. Authorities say his uncle, 23 yearold Jacob Barajas handcuffed the boy to a clair in their home. Then the mother chair in their home. Then the mothers boyfriend 30 yearold Robert Wilson allegedly beat the child for eating a piece of cake without permission. Police were called to the home but say jacks mother would not allow paramedics to see the 9 yearold saying that jack was just congested. I think the board, uh, understands the needs, uh understands that our school is growing our town is growing, thats a good thing and we like that, but we do need to make sure that we have the School Facilities to support that growth. Although no decision was officially made lenihan still has confidence in the project and believes, in the end people will pull through for the kids. Were very fortunate here as we do have outstanding support from our community for our school district.
