Hello. Today, december 1st marks the u. N. s selfimposed deadline for tackling ebola in west africa. But the head of the mission has suggested it has missed its target for controlling the virus. Theres still a huge danger the disease could spread around the world. The aim was to isolate 70 of those who have been infected with the disease, then to safely bury 70 of the victims in the three worst hit countries. Liberia and sierra leone are falling well short of the targets in some areas. The number of deaths from ebola has now reached nearly 7,000. More than 16,000 people have been diagnosed since the outbreak began in march. Freetown is one of the worst affected areas in sierra leone to be struck by the disease. Our correspondent Andrew Harding is in the capital and has been speaking to men digging graves to help get their country out of the crisis. I think that the president asked me to do this with other complex projects and most recently when we did the recovery act in the first two years of the administration. He said to try to coordinate. We have every single federal Agency Working on some element of fighting ebola here at home or overseas. For me, i have been able to climb the learning curve and sylvia burr well at hhs. My objective is to make sure they are workinging to and we are reallocating resources and getting decisions quickly from the president and making the difficult spoiss that need to be made. The thing that has been surprising me, but humbling to me is the vast array of people who are acting to fight this disease every single day. Good morning, everybody. Please have a seat. It is wonderful to be able to announce the filling of one new job. Before we do [laughter] i wanted to make a somewhat broader statement about the economy. Ash is willing to indulge me. Last month, americas businesses created more than 300,000 jobs. This keeps a pace this year that we have not seen since the 1990s. So far this year, over the first 11 months of 2014, our economy has created 2. 6 5 million jobs. That is more than in any entire year since the 1990s. Our businesses have created 10. 9 million jobs over the past 57 months in a row and that is the longest streak of private sector job growth on record. We also know that the pickup and the pace of job growth has been in industries with higher wages. Overall wages are rising. That is a welcome sign for millions of americans. We have an opportunity to keep up this progress if congress is willing to keep our government open, avoid selfinflicted wounds, and Work Together to invest in the
