Quite difficult to assess in the heat of the moment. The humanitarian organizations were preparing for, quite rightly, a worst Case Scenario where without they were very large numbers of people trapped on the mountain. I think a combination of possibly overestimation of the number of people there originally. The fact people are insensitive resourceful, and night after night numbers of people were getting themselves off the mountain, and the involvement of the peshmerga forces, in rescuing groups of people, particularly some Syrian Kurdish forces, interesting people from the mountain. It became clear later on in the process that there was a far smaller number than we thought, and that the best way to getting them off with to reinforce the land route that had already become established.
