They were the marco polos and mag gel lons off our time. We said farewell to. Kneel armstrong was a testimony of all americans of what can be done through dedication. The eulogy of the first man on the moon delivered by the last to leigh us wap toured the spirit ofhose who made the journey. American heros whos final mission ended 40 years ago. I am neil cavuto from the visitor complex in florida. It is hard for people my age to believe that most americans werent even alive the last time a man walked on the moon. Apollo 17 astronauts were there on december 14th, 72. A number of the exprers who made the trip passed away. The rest are now in their late 70s some 80s. But the story they tell sounds like something out of the future not the past. Its a story of how america with a combination of vision, hightech know how and good Old Fashioned courage answered the challenge of a rival stepped into the unknown and achieved what almost seems as unbelievable today as it was a half century ago. From the past but significantly resulting in for these projects and better outreach, better two way communication with stakeholders and changing some of the mechanisms and the channels that we are using so doing different kind of formats, having meetings at different, diverse number of locations and times of day and days of week to make sure that we can capture information and then using technology whether its social media and even used crowd sourcing for some things, data crowd sourcing. So weve heard from Board Members a lot on this topic and really looking to advance and step up our game in terms of outreach and engagement so we dont get bogged down later because this is something that slows us down when we end up on a controversy on a project so we are trying to clear that upfront to deliver projects more smoothly. Director, does this include at which at twitter because i know they issue concerns. I dont know if you see it as a right word but cced on them . With the crowd sourcing,
Some of the Tech Companies using the technology for approving the transportation system. The other technology is called next door and allows neighbors to feed off each others comments and im hoping that we are looking at the next door type of technology to get more of the dialogue. I worry more about the Digital Divide with low income people and some seniors that havent kept up with the changes in technologies and wondering how you are handling that and there was a focus on how vision zero would be equitable so you are looking at the high vision corridors and whether its chair kims district or low income neighborhoods have the most dangerous streets. All that said, its great to be able to get that feedback and its coming with photos and exact locations. Its helpful in terms of whether its our folks or police in terms of enforcement. I will continue to do that. Co
Specifically with the type of Technology Supporting outreach and community engagement. There were a number of proposals that came in through the mayors entrepreneur and Residents Program and many of the ones that were transportation related were for just that, the Public Engagement part of transportation planning. So i believe that we are engaging one or two of those entrepreneurs to come in and work with us on developing something exactly like what you are talking about. So, yes to the first one. In terms of the Digital Divide issue, i think that is absolutely real and think we are a very long way in this city or society from being able to fully go digital in how we interact with people and thats why i mentioned previously that we are looking on a diversity of ways of looking at people and i know youve raised before that evenings are difficult for some people and saturdays might be easier for some people.
