A carer and medical student from Surrey is in line to be crowned Miss England after qualifying for the final of the competition recently. 19-year-old Dhwani Kothari from Woking is the reigning Miss Surrey and so impressed the Miss England judges during a qualifying interview Zoom meeting that she earned a place in the Miss England final next month (August 27). Dhwani was born in Mumbai, India, and moved to Surrey with her mother aged six. From the age of eight, Dhwani became a carer after her mum Ekta was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since then, she became increasingly engaged with the condition and with medicine more generally, taking up a place at the University of Leicester to study Medical Science.

Lincoln City’s run in the Papa John’s Trophy came to an end as the Imps were defeated on penalties by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The semi-final game remained goalless until Anthony Scully opened the scoring for the Imps, winners of this competition back in 2018, midway through the second half, but Charlie Wyke equalised for the Black Cats 10 minutes later.
With no extra time in this competition, the match went straight to a penalty shootout, and Lincoln substitute Remy Howarth was the only one to miss as Sunderland won 5-3 on spot kicks.

The new Miss Lincolnshire will be crowned this weekend with nine women in the running for the title to become the county’s entry to Miss England.
Former DJ Phil Green, who hosted the 1981 final at the Lincolnshire Showground, is organising this year’s contest, which will be held via Zoom at 12.30pm on Saturday, February 20. The heat finals were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The nine finalists (read their bios below) have each submitted home made videos of themselves talking to camera and doing a catwalk, all filmed on their mobile phones.
