Panorama High School Senior Is One Of Only Four Iowa Students To Receive Prestigious Arts Scholarship

A Panorama High School senior is one of only four students to receive an Iowa Scholarship for the Arts to support their education this fall. Ruby Hummel of Yale has received the prestigious $2,500 award from the Iowa Arts Council, which is a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. Hummel says she was inspired by her teachers and her peers and wants to continue to perform while studying to become a music educator at Drake University in Des Moines. Her goal is to help future generations connect with music. “These students have demonstrated exceptional artistic ability, and we’re delighted they will pursue their education here in Iowa,” says Iowa Arts Council Administrator, David Schmitz. “An education in the arts will help them develop creativity and critical-thinking skills as they prepare for future careers in the arts or other areas.” Other winners include Faith De Groot from Alta Aurelia High School, Mikayla Lane of Crestwood High School and Mio Legaspi of De

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts winners announced Wednesday, May 5, 2021 3:10 PM Four Iowa high school seniors have earned an Iowa Scholarship for the Arts to support their college education this fall. Faith De Groot of Alta, Ruby Hummel of Yale, Mikayla Lane of Cresco and Mio Legaspi of Adel are the recipients of the prestigious award from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. The Iowa Scholarship for the Arts program supports Iowa high school students with proven artistic ability in dance, creative writing, music, theater, traditional arts or visual arts who plan to pursue a major in the arts at an accredited Iowa college or university. Each scholarship winner will receive $2,500 for his or her college tuition and related expenses as a full-time undergraduate student in 2021-2022.
