JetBlue unveils revamped Mint premium seat

2 February 2021 JetBlue has redesigned its Mint premium seat as it prepares to launch transatlantic flights for the first time. The new cabin will feature 24 private suites with a sliding door for every customer, a custom-designed seat cushion by Tuft & Needle and design touches that help every customer feel at home in the air. As part of the refresh, JetBlue will also introduce its latest innovation, the Mint Studio, which it claims will offer the most space in a premium experience from any United States-based airline. “Mint was an idea to make premium travel across the United States less stuffy and more affordable, and its performance has exceeded even our most optimistic expectations of going beyond New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Joanna Geraghty, president and chief operating officer, JetBlue.

JetBlue shows it means business with its new Transatlantic Mint product

JetBlue shows it means business with its new Transatlantic Mint product JetBlue has been long touting its desire to compete on the Transatlantic market. With the recent exit of Norwegian’s long haul operations, there’s certainly a slot to be filled in competitively priced disrupters, and JetBlue has jumped at the opportunity. However, it certainly means business, trying to take a slice of the highly lucrative Transatlantic Business Class market with a totally reimagined version of its popular Mint experience. In comparison to its original 2014 product, JetBlue’s first complete redesign of Mint again sets a new standard – this time on transatlantic flights – featuring 24 private suites with a sliding door for every Mint customer, a custom-designed seat cushion by Tuft & Needle, and countless design touches that help every customer feel at home in the air.

After five years of research and development, JetBlue is finally ready to show off its next-generation business-class product, launching soon on flights to Europe and within the U.S. Each new business-class seat will offer a sliding door, and every cabin will feature two versions of the new product. First, the airline’s extra-spacious Mint Studios will be positioned at the bulkhead row, with two windows each, more personal space, a belted side seat (for guests to join for a chat or meal) and a larger 22-inch display, as seen in the rendering below.

Revealed: New JetBlue Mint Suite & Mint Studio!

The new JetBlue Mint Suite In 2014 JetBlue innovated narrow body business class with the introduction of Mint, featuring flat beds at all seats and doors at some seats. Now JetBlue is innovating narrow body business class again, with the introduction of the JetBlue Mint Suite, featuring direct aisle access and doors at every seat. JetBlue’s A321LRs used for transatlantic flights will feature a total of 24 herringbone business class suites. JetBlue has selected Thompson Aero’s VantageSolo seat, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise. JetBlue’s current Mint product is also from Thompson Aero, so this is a natural evolution, and I think it’s the product that many of us were expecting.

The new JetBlue Mint cabin with 24 suites will roll out later this year on the airline s much-anticipated flights to London from New York and Boston, which are set to launch this summer. A smaller version with 16 suites will also be added on select routes between New York and Los Angeles later in 2021. This is the first-ever redesign of the budget airline s premium cabin, which launched in 2014 and has been beloved by fliers ever since for its spacious seats, collaborations with trendy restaurants and cosmetic brands, and most of all its lower fares compared to business-class tickets on legacy carriers.
