A centuryold church in Downtown Des Moines faces demolition after City Council Members voted earlier this week not to intervene. The owners of the property want to demolish the building so they can sell it to a developer. But historic preservationists want to save it. Approving pay raises for new york city officials. The mayor could get a 15 raise. 23 for councilmembers. And a 37 raise for the Council Speaker if approved. Not everybody wants it.
