A centuryold church in Downtown Des Moines faces demolition after City Council Members voted earlier this week not to intervene. The owners of the property want to demolish the building so they can sell it to a developer. But historic preservationists want to save it. Approving pay raises for new york city officials. The mayor could get a 15 raise. 23 for councilmembers. And a 37 raise for the Council Speaker if approved. Not everybody wants it. He is ready to give elected officials a raise 12 on average for elected officials across the board and not everyone is happy. City lawmakers havent had a raise in a decade but now mayor de blasio says he wants to make it happen. He has accepted the recommendations of the quadrennial commission that convened last year. It will boost the salaries of elected officials. Members of the city council will get a raise of 25,815 boosting their salaries from but that comes with a ban on outside jobs.
