Chief Minister modest in victory, thanks voters for mandate
The YSR Congress Party juggernaut swept to power in the elections held to municipal corporations and municipalities across the State riding on a host of welfare schemes.
The ruling party won all 11 municipal corporations and 73 out of 75 municipalities in the State.
The YSRCP secured 52.76% vote share, while the TDP’s slid to 30.08%, while the Jana Sena Party had to contend with 4.08% and the BJP 2.41%.

RELATED Andhara Pradesh Government has requested the Centre to confer the highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna, on Pingali Venkayya who designed the national flag during freedom struggle.
Pingali Venkayya (1876-1963) was a freedom fighter and staunch Gandhian who designed the national flag which was approved by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He was born in Bhatlapenumarru, near Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy paid a visit to the daughter of Venkayyam Ghantasala Sitamahalakshmi, at her residence in Macharla (Guntur) a couple of days ago and honoured her. He had also announced a financial support of ₹75 lakh to her.

Less than two weeks after announcing that CBSE system would be implemented for classes 1 to 7 in all government schools from 2021-22 academic year, the Andhra Pradesh government seems to have put it on hold with a top official on Monday saying obtaining accreditation would not come immediately as the process would take at least a year.
The government s idea was to first bring classes 1 to 7 under CBSE and classes 8 to 10 over the subsequent three years, thereby completing the conversion process by 2024.
