National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi (NIT-T) has retained its top rank among NITs and all government institutions in the country in implementation of TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) III in the third consecutive cycle.
In the performance audit by N.C. Shivaprakash, Professor, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, NIT-T scored 1.03 on a scale of 3.0 in the TEQIP-III implemented during 2018-21, with ₹ 7.7 crore funding and was chosen as mentor institute for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Pahargaon, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Under twinning arrangement, NIT-T has been supporting DBRAIT in preparation of self-assessment report to secure positive rating from National Board of Accreditation, procurement of goods, and enabling faculty members to pursue higher studies (M.S. and Ph.D.) at NIT-T. Students of DBRAIT also share the NIT-T laboratory facilities and undergo training at the Siemens

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation (CEDI), National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi (NIT-T) will be nurturing about a dozen new incubatees, faculty start-ups and alumni start-ups during 2021.
Formed to provide hand-holding support to early-stage startups and incubates, social and women entrepreneurs for creating livelihood and to make a societal impact, the Centre will enable them to navigate the challenges from ideation to commercialisation, NIT-T Director Mini Shaji Thomas said.
Last week, the newly-admitted startups signed the on board agreement under funding and mentoring category of CEDI Incubation programme 2021.

Ability to think out-of-the-box, confidence to take risks, capability to motivate and giving back to society are all facets of a good leader, Vikas Swarup, Secretary, Union Ministry of External Affairs has said.
The four facets of leadership that will lead India to be a pioneer of innovation are creativity, curiosity, communication and contribution to society, Mr. Swarup said addressing students at National Institute of Technology- Tiruchi on the occasion of Institute Day.
Mr. Swarup said that this was the most exciting era of innovation and inspiration and that students must lead the race for new ideas. He also appreciated the community outreach programmes undertaken by the institute including the low-cost street vacuum cleaner, solar cold storage for farmers, and coaching classes for underprivileged children.

Young Indians (Yi), a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi (NIT-T) as part of its YUVA initiative. Through the MoU, students of NIT-T will be working towards nation-building and youth leadership activities. The MoU was signed by Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NIT-T, and Ketan J. Vora, Chair, Yi Tiruchi Chapter, C. Pradeep, Yuva Chair, and others, according to a press release.
