Velma E Newcomer

Velma E. Newcomer, 96, passed away peacefully at Mennonite Home on May 13, 2021. Born in Millersville in 1924, Velma was the daughter of the late Witmer and Ellen (Stauffer) Neff and was a graduate of Penn Manor High School. She was the loving wife of Warren E. Newcomer, having been married for more than 51 years prior to her husband s passing in 1997. Velma was a devoted homemaker after the birth of her sons and was an excellent baker, regularly making cupcakes, pies, and cookies for her family and for special occasions. Together, she and Warren maintained a large garden, an annual effort that she continued for many years after her husband s death. Velma spent many hours raising and picking lima beans, corn, and strawberries to share.

Joan L Sellers

Joan L. Sellers, 80, of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Bowman) Brady. Joan was a graduate of Penn Manor High School in Millersville. She worked for many years as a Manager at the Historic Revere Tavern in Paradise. She was also a florist at Royer s Flower Shop, a cook at Martic Elementary School, and retired from her job as a chef at Millersville University. Joan was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her life was her family and friends, enhanced by many pets, interests and hobbies. She was blessed with artistic talent and enjoyed oil painting. She loved doing arts & crafts projects, playing games and having fun sleepovers with her grandchildren. Vonn Chan, 82, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She was born in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia, which translates to Harbor of Pottery. She was married to the late Tuy Phe for 67 years. Vonn grew up with two sisters and was raised by her aunt and uncle. She left her home village during the Cambodian Genocide and was separated from her daughters. They reunited, and moved to Thailand in 1979, and then to the United States the same year. She was a bright woman with a heart of gold. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. Vonn worked for Tyson Foods for over 12 years. She loved tending to her vegetable garden, and cooking for her family. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and taking annual trips to Cambodia for New Years. She was Buddhist and attended many Cambodian functions. She spent her time watching game shows and Disney movies, sewing, and quilting. She loved Super Mario and digital puzzle games. Her family will remember her as a one-of-a-kind woman,
