He died in a terrible crash in Texas last year that also claimed the lives of two women. So, on Sunday, loved ones and the community came to Millennial Brewing Company to celebrate his life. Mankin was a devoted leader and a helpful caring friend. He was so much more than the owner of BurgerQuE and for Krista Tarasyuk Watkins, he was more than just her boss.

Hassett was named among four teachers from North Fort Myers selected as a finalist for the prestigious Golden Apple, given by the Foundation of Lee County Public Schools each year to honor the best teachers in Lee County. Hassett, a science resource teacher who teaches K through 5, said she was overwhelmed to be named a finalist in her first attempt at applying. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have several teachers who were Golden Apple finalists and recognized as Golden Apple teachers, so I know the caliber of teacher who receives this honor,” Hassett said. “It’s humbling to be included in this group.”
