Some of them, in fact, had taught her when she was a student there.
Hassett was named among four teachers from North Fort Myers selected as a finalist for the prestigious Golden Apple, given by the Foundation of Lee County Public Schools each year to honor the best teachers in Lee County.
Hassett, a science resource teacher who teaches K through 5, said she was overwhelmed to be named a finalist in her first attempt at applying.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have several teachers who were Golden Apple finalists and recognized as Golden Apple teachers, so I know the caliber of teacher who receives this honor,” Hassett said. “It’s humbling to be included in this group.”
