Paul Rusesabagina, the real-life hero of the movie “Hotel Rwanda,” which told the story of a man who saved the lives of approximately 1,200 people during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, has been released after the Rwandan government commuted his sentence of 25 years on terrorism charges.
A couple of days ago; the European parliament voted a resolution to condemn Rwanda for the arrest and the judgement of Paul Rusesabagina, the Hotel Rwanda hero, who was also leading a rebel group in Rwanda to destabilize the country. This group, the Forces de Liberation National (FLN) killed several innocent civilians when they infiltrated and was composed of a rag tag of other groups of which the FDLR of Wilson Irategeka delivered the most elements. Rusesabagina had also send money in the past to that group and the organization was operating out of Burundi.
