ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Rochester Police say a man is dead after a shooting Thursday morning.
Police say just before 10 a.m., a man, later identified as 28-year-old Jacob Wims, was shot multiple times. RPD attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deadly shooting marked the 18th homicide in Rochester in 2021 according to Capt. Frank Umbrino. Umbrino says because the suspect in a fatal crash on Main Street back in January was indicted on second degree manslaughter charges, that counts as a homicide for FBI reporting purposes.
Mead Street near North Clinton Avenue was shut down for the investigation.
