Beaufort County Council extends mask requirement
Bluffton Today
Beaufort County Council voted Monday to extend its COVID-19 emergency mask requirement, which has been in place since July 3.
The ordinance requires people to wear face masks and practice social distancing in commercial and public buildings in unincorporated Beaufort County.
There are exceptions to the mask requirement, including for those under the age of 2, those actively eating or drinking, swimming, receiving a medical procedure, and those in churches and gyms where social distancing policies are already in place.
The ordinance was renewed by an 8-3 vote. County code requires 75 percent approval to renew emergency ordinances, so all eight votes were needed.
