(OLNEY) To learn more about the Richland County CEO Program at Richland County High School in Olney, the public is invited to go online and watch a special “CEO Program Q&A” this coming Thursday night via the Zoom virtual network. The free special event with feature a current Richland County CEO student, a Facilitator (Joe Morris), and a CEO Board Member (Bart Zuber), as the three will provide an overview of the CEO Program, plus answer any questions that may be presented in real time. The CEO application deadline for next year is fast approaching, in fact less than two weeks away, on Monday, March 1st. Starting at 7:00, the event will last less than one hour. (NEWTON) Here’s the unofficial minute highlights from the most recent Newton City Council meeting, held two weeks ago tonight on February 2, 2021. The Council : heard a report on the recent virtual Annual Celebration of Jasper County Economic Development Incorporated (JEDI) – it was noted that the JEDI totals from 2020 included several TIF parcels, projects, business grants, and new jobs in Jasper County : heard an update from Connor & Connor Engineers on the various projects ongoing within Newton : agreed to hire Alden J. (AJ) Schafer to fill the open position in the City Electric Department : and took no other action but to adjourn after a 16-minute closed session to discuss litigation and real estate : the Newton City Council’s next scheduled meeting was to have been tonight, but due to the extreme winter weather conditions, it has been postponed and rescheduled for a week from tonight, February 23, starting at 6:00.

(OLNEY) With the cancellation of classes within the Richland County Schools today on this Thursday due to the weather and rural road conditions, the next day for students to return to the public schools in Olney is next Tuesday, February 16. That’s because there are no classes tomorrow, on Friday, February 12, due to the previously scheduled Parent/Teacher Conferences within the Richland County School District. And there is no school next Monday, February 15, due to the federal and state observance of President’s Day.
