Over 500 families with some 1,800 children drove through Midwest Food Bank on Saturday for the annual Children s Christmas Party, receiving boxes of food and presents for a merrier Christmas.
Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 was requested to conduct a death investigation in Grayville yesterday morning. At approximately 2:04, police discovered the body of a 34-year-old man in the 100 block of East Sycamore Street. The cause and manner of death are undetermined at this time and will be released by the Edwards County Coroner's Office after completion of a final autopsy and toxicology report. WADI says the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, started in September, and the organization is actively writing applications for qualified families to receive assistance with their utility bills. The pandemic has changed income requirements, and a single person can gross up to $2,147 per month to be eligible. Couples can gross $2,903 per month. The Wayne County Circuit Clerk’s Office in the Wayne County Courthouse has been closed due to the quarantine of staff members. Circuit Clerk Pam Southerd says court will still be held via Zoom as planned, and notices have been sent. She says the office is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, December 16
th.
The Volunteers for the Christmas Dinner in Cisne say they still plan to prepare a meal on Christmas Day, despite the challenges the year has brought. They do say there could be some changes made to ensure event safety, and they are still begin finalized and will be announced at a later date.
