Hopefully it will continue to be fascinating today in february 2018, as i was happily strolling the streets of rome metaphorically speaking, i joined 16 other women to celebrate the centennial of womens suffrage. As the first meeting of that is soon to be name womens Suffrage Centennial of southern colorado i learned the significance of this did not strike me immediately. I began to do research to celebrate the colorado centennial 125
Remotely, but we began thinking about the pandemic in january. We are a division of medical historians and we followed the news pretty carefully, especially news about Public Health. We reached out and began speaking with the Public Health service in january because we thinking about how to document this story. It has been a slow process for us. Steve at what point did you realize the pandemic would stretch into the summer and now the fall and potentially into the winter . Alexandra as historians, we thought about the difficulties inherent in making a vaccine, so we were pretty sure it would last for quite a while. For a fair amount of time. We would remain at home while a vaccine was being created. We still dont know what is happening, as you know, and so we are still taking things week by week in the museum. What we are going to do is think through some Big Questions about Power Dynamics in american slave societies today. So, part of this is like a building on what we talked about last thursday. Last thursday we talked about gabriels conspiracy, richmond 1800. We talked in conspicuous about how it reflects the complexity of slavery. Slavery was relationship doing individuals, a person and another person. As an experience, slavery was endlessly complex. With gabriel, we saw some of the ways and enslaved person could enjoy some kinds of freedom within their bondage. So, different practices of power influence the ways different people experienced slavery. S
