Samantha Marie Buckaroo is an unusual patient for the MSU Veterinary Medical Center's oncology team. That's because she's a guinea pig, but she isn't there for just a usual checkup.

EAST LANSING Michigan State University s Veterinary Medical Center will no longer take walk-in, non-life-threatening emergency cases for small animals.
Beginning May 5 for the foreseeable future, the small animal hospital will only take in animals considered to be unstable or who have life-threatening conditions, according to the hospital.
Any animals that do not meet that criteria will be referred to other veterinary practices or will be asked to make an appointment at MSU during regular business hours, which is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The hospital will not perform any after-hours emergency soft tissue surgeries and will refer cases elsewhere. Weekend emergency surgeries will be limited to critical and life-threatening cases.
