In the recently concluded FIVB Nations League, the Poland men’s volleyball team finished as runners up losing to eventual champions Brazil. In a closely contested final, the Brazilian volleyball team prevailed 3-1 ((22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-14) in 4 sets. For Poland it is their second medal in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, after their bronze in 2019 when they beat Brazil in the third-place playoff.
Although, Poland lost the VLN finals to Brazil, the team performed in a very impressive manner throughout the tournament and is one of the favourites to win the men’s Olympic Gold medal for the second time in history, the first coming in the 1976 Montreal Olympics during what can be said as the golden era of Polish Volleyball. The side then boasted legends like Wlodzimierz Sadalski, Edward Skorek and Tomasz Wojtowicz – who were world champions in 1974 and Olympic champions in 1976.
