hayward. a deadly car accident occurred this morning involving a fairfax county police officer. the accident happened just before 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of gum street and francona road. kristen fisher has more now from the scene. reporter: this is all that s left of the silver infinity that crashed into a fairfax county police cruiser before bursting into flames. the driver, an adult man, was killed instantly. but somehow the officer, a seven year veteran, was still able to call for help. what happened was the fairfax county police officer was heading this way on ancona road. the driver of the silver infinity was heading this way. for whatever reason the driver swerved into the police officer s lane. the two collided head on. that car caught on fire. the driver of the car was pronounced dead on the screen. the officer was transported to a local hospital. reporter: fairfax police closed this section of francona road for four hours. they had to clear the roadway to
