The Chancellor of the Exchequer has announced his Budget to aid the country s Covid recovery.
Rishi Sunak announced the extension of the furlough scheme, an extension to the £20 Universal Credit uplift and scrapped the raising of fuel and beer duty.
Delivering the budget in Parliament Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak said: An important moment is upon us. A moment of challenge and of change. Of difficulties, yes, but of possibilities too. This is a Budget that meets that moment.

Boris Johnson has admitted he could not guarantee there would be no further lockdowns although he stressed that “science is now unquestionably in the ascendancy over the disease”.
The Prime Minister told a Downing Street press conference: “I can’t give that guarantee, of course not, because we are battling with nature, with a disease that is capable of mutating and changing.
“I’m increasingly confident, I’m increasingly optimistic about the sheer extent of the possibilities that are opening up with vaccinations.

The South African coronavirus variant is not the dominant virus circulating in the UK, according to Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam
Amid reports that the vaccine could be less effective against the variant, Britons were told they should not be concerned as the strain first found in Kent remains the dominant force in the UK.
The Health Secretary Matt Hancock fielded questions from the public and the media at the latest Downing Street press briefing, alongside Mr Van-Tam.

More than a thousand Covid-19 deaths have been recorded nationally in the past 24 hours, along with 62,322 new daily infections across the UK.
A total of 1,041 deaths were added to the total death toll - the highest daily death increase since April 22.
In the past seven days alone 4,798 people have died as a result of the virus, a 32 per cent increase compare to the week previous.
