It was a busy Tuesday night for GOP delegates and candidates as nearly 250 people packed into the South Summit Middle School for the party’s first major political event in four years.
Summit County Democrats nominated two candidates during the party’s virtual convention on Saturday with one heading to the November ballot and the other unseating the incumbent.
John “Jack” Murphy, a Republican, launched a campaign for the Summit County Council last week. The political newcomer says he is interested in bringing balance back to the county s public office.
People campaigning for public office had until 5 p.m. on Friday to formally launch their bids, and the candidate pool for County Courthouse races is more balanced than in recent years.
