Novato. Reporter hi, natasha. Yes, highway 37 is open here in novato. Look at that. Youve got a shiny new stretch of highway to test drive this morning. We do have some pictures to show you from caltrans of the improvement work while it was being done. This is a 1500feet section of highway that were talking about. Theres new pavement, new guardrails and a new drainage system. That is key. The hope is that we will never again see the flooding that happened here last month. A heavy rain and the king tides caused this highway to shut down. They just had to close it, there was so much water. Theyre hoping these improvements will make sure that flooding like this never happens this bad again. Now, they say they cant guarantee it wont flood but theyre hoping it wont be as often and wont last as long. The lane closures out here are not completely over with so dont be surprised if theres a lane closure here and there. Theyve got to put some finishing touches on this new section of the highway,
