Panel of Chairman in Punjab Assembly is authorized to administer oath
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The panel of chairman in the Punjab Assembly is authorized to take oath of any member in the Assembly.
According to details, on June 12, 2020, PTI MPA Sania Kamran took the oath of office which was administered by the Panel of Chairman Mian Shafi Mohammad. The oath was taken in the hall of Faletti’s hotel.
The hall of the Faletti’s hotel was given the status of Assembly Hall because of Coronavirus. Mian Shafi took the oath in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat and DG Parliamentary Affairs Inayatullah Lak were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

LAHORE: The non-serious attitude of the provincial minister, Mines and Minerals, as well as the parliamentary secretary concerned led to the conclusion of the question hour session in the Punjab Assembly on Friday.
Mian Shafi Muhammad, who is an MPA from Rahim Yar Khan, made the question hour session pending at the request of Law Minister Raja Basharat and members of the opposition benches. The session had already started with a delay of over two hours. Raja Basharat expressed dismay over the absence of the minister and the parliamentary secretary concerned from the proceedings. The session started two and a half hours late under the chair of Mian Shafi Muhammad. Raja Basharat while speaking on the floor of the House endorsed the demand of the opposition for pending the question hour.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating a total of 38 mills as part of its ongoing probe into sugar scandal, according to documents available with Daily Times.
According to the documents, FIRs have been registered against a total of 38 sugar mills, and in some cases multiple FIRs have also been registered. On top of the list is the Chaudhary Sugar Mills Ltd of Nawaz Sharif family. Most PA standing committees unformed, lying dormant
Parliamentary matters including legislation making being dealt only through 13 special committees

The standing committees of Punjab Assembly (PA) are lying dormant despite a lapse of two and a half parliamentary years.
Up to the present, chairpersons of only 20 out of 49 standing committees have been elected whereas 29 committees have not even been formulated. To the dismay of voters, several standing committees did not even hold a single meeting after the election. Parliamentary matters including legislation making are being dealt only through the 13 special committees of the house, as per official sources. Moreover, the high publicised accountability process within the government departments through the Public Accounts Committees has also stopped.
