Consumer rights group Mumbai Grahak Panchayat has written to the Chief Minister of Mumbai, demanding the removal of a guideline that allegedly promotes corruption in redevelopment projects. The group claims that the presence of an authorised officer from the Co-operative Registrar s office at approval meetings has become a breeding ground for corruption, with bribes being demanded for approval. The group suggests that video recording the proceedings would provide evidence of transparent selection. | Mumbai news
Mhada: The judges allowed an interim plea in a pending petition by some residents to delete the name of the developer, A A Estates Pvt Ltd, an RNA Corp Group company.
These notices will be issued under the newly introduced section 79 (A) of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Act, 1976. The new section deals with the redevelopment of cessed buildings that are declared as dangerous by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
The Maharashtra government has authorized the MHADA to undertake redevelopment of dilapidated cessed buildings in Mumbai if the society and owner fail to appoint a developer within six months. MHADA has also been authorized to take over redevelopment projects that have been delayed for more than two to three years. This move aims to resolve the issue of redevelopment of dangerous cessed buildings and delayed redevelopment of cessed buildings in the city. | Mumbai news
