Nagaland: N Theyo Foundation to sponsor two students

KOHIMA The first sponsorship programme of N Theyo Foundation for theological education was held on June 6 at Hotel Pine conference hall in Kohima. N Theyo Foundation for theological education was meant for three years degree course (Bachelor of Theology/ Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Divinity). It informed that the two selected beneficiaries (which comprise of INR1.50 lakh each in three installments) for this year included Sekhono Kezo (for Bachelor of Divinity) and Rupfusato Theyo (for Master of Divinity). The foundation chairman, Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, stated that the programme was a dream of his parents to sponsor theological students of Theyizumi (Baptist) out of their savings. He called upon the two candidates to be committed in equipping themselves with the Bible knowledge and stand firm and deliver the word of God with the Holy Spirit. Nagaland: Man acquitted for attempt to murder mother; sentenced to 3 years imprisonment

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): The Court of District and Sessions Judge, Phek on Tuesday, convicted 29-year-old Humuzo K Tara to three years imprisonment for ‘voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means’. The judge convicted him of the charge under section 326 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) but acquitted him of section 307 of the IPC for attempt to murder. The judgment stated that the accused, at the time of commission of the offence, had come of age and should have been taking care of his aged parents. He had instead been ill-treating his mother not only mentally and financially but physically, leading to the incident. The accused used a machete (dao) for “committing grievous hurt upon the mother”, it said. “He knew that use of such a sharp weapon would cause grievous hurt and make his mother suffer such bodily pain due to the injury,” it stated.
