A fundraiser has been set up to help fund treatment in Mexico for a Dundalk woman diagnosed with incurable cancer, which it s hoped will shrink her tumours.
Sonia Hoey was originally diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer in February 2019, but after was almost a year in remission following intensive treatment, was told last July that it had spread to her lungs.
Because the 42 year old - who previously played with Dundalk FC, Peamount Ladies and Blackrock FC, and played Gaelic with Dowdallshill and the Louth ladies team, has received the maximum dose of radiation, she can t undergo that treatment again and is being offered palliative care with a 12 month prognosis.
