It's hoped the treatment in the Hope for Cancer Clinic will help shrink the 42 year old's tumours
A fundraiser has been set up to help fund treatment in Mexico for a Dundalk woman diagnosed with incurable cancer, which it's hoped will shrink her tumours.
Sonia Hoey was originally diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer in February 2019, but after was almost a year in remission following intensive treatment, was told last July that it had spread to her lungs.
Because the 42 year old - who previously played with Dundalk FC, Peamount Ladies and Blackrock FC, and played Gaelic with Dowdallshill and the Louth ladies team, has received the maximum dose of radiation, she can't undergo that treatment again and is being offered palliative care with a 12 month prognosis.
