They protect and develop water resources that provide wildlife habitat and maintain the wide open landscapes that our state is known for. Ranchers Tom and Callie Paterson, along with their daughters Lindsay and Caroline, run a cow-calf operation near Luna and Alma, in the southwestern part of the state. The family founded Spur Ranch Cattle Company in Catron County two decades ago, but the ranch name and area of operation date back to the 1870s. Spur Ranch Cattle Company is a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association. Lindsay and Caroline work alongside their parents, sharing in the hard work, the joys and the disappointments that are part of ranch life.

Kendal and Chelsea Wilson grow business in tough industry Headlight staff reports CARRIZOZO, N.M. – Kendal and Chelsea Wilson, along with their two daughters Kyanna and Jemma, operate Wilson Beef located in south central New Mexico. The Wilson family has a rich history in the Carrizozo area dating back to when the family homesteaded years ago. These deep roots in their community will leave the two Wilson daughters as seventh generation New Mexico ranchers. Wilson Beef is a small business that sells locally grown, pasture-raised, grain-finished beef in custom quarters, halves, and whole beeves, including USDA inspected individual cuts. For several years the Wilsons primarily sold larger custom portions of beef.
