An area of Rte 9 in Framingham known for flooding will soon be improved

FRAMINGHAM – A section of Rte. 9 notorious for transforming into a lake during heavy rainstorms is scheduled for repairs to fix flooding problems that have persisted for decades. The state Department of Transportation has completed 25% of the design plans for a $4.4 million drainage improvement project at the interchange of Rtes. 9 and 126. That section of Rte. 9 under the Rte. 126 overpass can, at times, become nearly impassable during heavy rain. The flooding stems from insufficient drainage capacity along the road, which is controlled by the state. We get a lot of calls about this for sure,” Barry Lorion, Mass DOT District 3 highway director, told members of the 495/MetroWest Partnership’s Transportation Committee during a forum Thursday.
