Victim right between the two ambulances that you see right out here on jf kennedy boulevard has it was described, the incident taking place around 2 15 this afternoon. We understand once again the victim is a 43yearold man killed after being struck by a pickup truck right here in bay on. The victim was getting into the suv when he was struck by the pickup truck which kept traveling northbound on kennedy boulevard before the parked car and ended up on the sidewalk. The 43yearold victim has been pronounced dead on the scene. This entire area around jfk boulevard, we can tell you theres no traffic on the box that parallel jfk boulevard. Johnson live at the scene for us. Lets tell you exactly what happened. The students were outside of the walter f. Robinson school. There had been a fire drill a little bit earlier this afternoon. They were going back inside the school at the time. The horrific accident happened right out here on west 31st and jfk boulevard. The principal made the decision to go ahead and put a human chain with all the adults around the school so the students would not see the accident happening outside of their school. We understand the patient had just left out of a Doctors Office here on the corner of west 31st and jfk boulevard. He had walked out of the Doctors Office. Apparently he was getting ready to get inside his vehicle at the time. Thats when the 43yearold man was struck by a pickup truck that was heading northbound here in bayonne. He was getting in to his car and apparently all of the items, his sneakers, cell phone, several that truck that struck him continued northbound on kennedy bouleva
And 900,000 students take the test in some 2600 schools around the state. Theres a health alert at a college in connecticut. More than a dozen students have tested positive for mumps at Sacred Heart University the school in fairfield reports at least 17 cases since late march. The infected students were vaccinated twice as required for college administration. But the immunizations apparently can fade especially if a student comes in contact with a sick person. Investigators believe the students brought the virus back from spring break. Not sure where our first case came from. There was somebody who definitely didnt travel internationally. Somebody who has been in connecticut. So they got it from somebody else got it from somebody else. This is how the disease spreads. Harvard university in boston also record more than 40 cases. Thats what theyre calling this is emergency construction inbound on the gowanus just off the verrazano as you get into brooklyn. The big deal here is that right now the hov lane is completely shut down. Thats the lane at the far left there, that would normally be open at this time of the morning.
