The Met Department reported that the severe cyclonic storm 'Remal' had weakened into a cyclonic storm by Monday morning, with wind speeds ranging from 80 to 90 kilometres per hour. The storm made landfall around midnight on Sunday, causing heavy rainfall in Kolkata and the coastal districts of West Bengal throughout the night. According to the Met Department, at 5.30am, the weather system was located 150 km northeast of Sagar Island.
