Finally, Ford is extending the Texas-sized luxury of the popular King Ranch trim to the bestselling SUV in American history. The 2021 Ford Explorer adds the King Ranch to its lineup, serving up Lone Star levels of luxury to match the Explorer’s legendarily rugged capabilities.
Ford’s King Ranch trim a staple for the F-Series and a recent add to the Expedition lineup pays tribute to the legendary ranch of the same name. Purchased in 1853 by Captain Richard King, the South Texas ranch has grown to the largest of its kind in the United States. The ranch’s famous running W emblem is prominently featured in Ford King Ranch vehicles including the new 2021 Explorer.

The venerable Ford Explorer has morphed through several permutations since its introduction thirty years ago. For the upcoming model year, a familiar trim is added though it’s the first time it has ever been offered on this model.
Taking a page from other machines in Ford’s lineup bearing the “King Ranch” badge, customers of this model will find an interior swaddled in mahogany-colored Mesa Del Rio leather and trimmed in Sapele wood appliqués. Cowboy boots and handlebar moustaches are not required but strongly encouraged.
Outside, Explorer King Ranch comes decked out with a unique mesh grille insert, 20-inch aluminum wheels cap, a liftgate scuff plate, and jazzy quad chrome exhaust tips. Capping it all off is signature King Ranch badging that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s explored (pun intended) the upper reaches of Ford’s product lineup at any point over the last two decades.
