Merchants & Marine Bank Launches Residential Mortgage Division

At its annual shareholders meeting on April 1st, Merchants & Marine Bank announced the creation of Canvas Mortgage, a new residential mortgage banking division. Canvas Mortgage will operate as a standalone division of the bank and serve the bank’s trade area of Mississippi and the Alabama Gulf Coast as well surrounding communities.
The new mortgage division will be led by Jonathan Shows and Sharon Rice, two of the region’s most accomplished residential mortgage leaders. Shows will serve as President, Mortgage Production, and Rice will be President, Mortgage Operations. Shows and Rice will be supported by a talented team of mortgage loan originators, underwriters and compliance officers.

Merchants & Marine Bank recently announced three new team members in Jackson and George counties. Lisa Johnson has been named retail bank manager and community banker for the Gautier office; Chad Wade will serve the Gautier community as a commercial banker; and Jessica Odom is the new retail bank manager for the Bankâs Lucedale office.
Wade joins Merchants & Marine Bank from Alliance Collection Service where he was a regional sales executive. He has several years of prior banking experience as a personal banker and branch manager.
Johnson has more than 20 years of experience in banking, finance, training and sales. She attended the Mississippi School of Banking and has completed additional courses in leadership, retail management, consumer and small business lending.

The Early Learning Collaboratives of the George County School District, Hattiesburg Public School District and Lamar County School District each received $75,000 to provide pre-K programs to their communities.
