They say the fires were likely a report result of flares left behind by caltrans maintenance workers. Now, caltrans engineers spent the day investigating those mysterious fires after a blaze broke out this afternoon. That fire occurred on the very same spot on the bridge where flames erupt edmond night. A driver captured that fire and posted a photo on twitter. After reviewing bridge Surveillance Video today and finding flare remnants at the fire scene, caltrans now feels pretty confident they know the cause. Flares were left near the eastbound number one lane and it is thought at this point in time that they are the likely cause of the fire on monday night and today. Man at the center of a threeday man hunt shot and killed himself today at Pennsylvania State Police Spotted him and pursued the suspect. Pennsylvania state Police Officers received a tip that the vehicle that we were looking for, the white ford fusion, in a mcdonalds parking lot near erie, pa. The vehicle fled from the area. There was a short pursuit in which the vehicle was stopped. As officers approached that vehicle, Steve Stephens took his own life. A national man hunt ensued, the cell phone tracked 100 miles east where the murder occurred. Rambling video showed a man who was unraveling, he was out of options and wanted to kill as many innocent people as possible. Thorpts saying they have not found evidence that he killed anyone else. Officers with a metal rake and refused commands to put it down. It happened on chase street. We went to santa cruz and spoke to concerned neighbors who say the suspect was mentally unstable.
