Learned a few minutes ago that highway 84 in livermore will be closed until 7 00 p. M. This is a major artery of the tri valley and its already been closed for more than 12 hours. You see our nbc chopper overhead. It closed this morning after this deadly crash involving three separate cars and a big rig. That big rig actually ended up on its side on an embankment. Live at the bridge with more on the cause. Reporter thats right, janelle. Caltrans now believes they know what started those two backtoback fires on the bridge. They say the fires were likely a report result of flares left behind by caltrans maintenance workers. Now, caltrans engineers spent the day investigating those mysterious fires after a blaze broke out this afternoon. That fire occurred on the very same spot on the bridge where flames erupt edmond night. A driver captured that fire and posted a photo on twitter. After reviewing bridge Surveillance Video today and finding flare remnants at the fire scene, caltrans now feels pretty confident they know the cause. Flares were left near the eastbound number one lane and it is thought at this point in time that they are the likely cause of the fire on monday night and today.
