Sock & Buskin Players award scholarships
SIDNEY Sock & Buskin Players has announced the 2021 Hesselbein Memorial Scholarships have been awarded to Ryan Gibson, Ellie Pistone, Pippin Pistone and Delaney Wilson, of Sidney, and Ella Gover, of Piqua.
Gibson is a graduate of Sidney High School, member of the National Honor Society, and will be attending the University of Toledo majoring in Human Resource Management. While at Lehman High School and Sidney High School, he was involved in baseball, golf, choir, District Honors Choir, drama club, Key Club; the high school play “Alice in Wonderland” and the musicals “On the Town,” “Into the Woods,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” He also appeared in the Sidney Dance Company production of “Cats” as well as Sock & Buskin’s “Grease.”

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. â The 2021 Nesius Memorial Scholarships have been awarded by Jasper County REMC to children of Jasper County REMC members.
There were nearly 30 applicants this year competing for the six $500 scholarships.
The co-op usually issues three scholarships, one for a Rensselaer Central student, one for a Kankakee Valley student and one for all other schools and homeschool students.
Since the electric cooperative Youth Tour to Washington D.C. and Touchstone Energy Camp were cancelled for 2021, the co-op decided to use those funds to increase the number of scholarships.
This year, the cooperative chose two students from each category to receive the funds. The scholarship dollars may be applied toward tuition or educational expenses at the college of the studentâs choice regardless of the course of study.

WORLDWIDE – UK – Mark Dickinson has been re-elected as General Secretary of Nautilus International to serve a five year term of office to 2026. Dickinson’s candidacy was unopposed. This will be his fourth term in the role.
UK – Transport union RMT has annoucned that Mick Lynch has been elected as the union s new General Secretary, succeeding Mick Cash. Before being elected as General Secretary, Lynch has been twice elected as RMT Assistant General Secretary and has twice served on the RMT’s National Executive. He is a Trustee Director of the £30 billion Railway Pension Scheme.
Crowley Maritime awards two GLMA cadets
Crowley Maritime Corp. awarded Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships to Great Lakes Maritime Academy (GLMA) cadets Tristan Barnett and Jackson Dagata for their achievements and interest in maritime careers.
Named in honor of former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas B. Crowley Sr., the scholarship benefits promising maritime students. While earning their bachelor’s degrees at GLMA, both Barnett and Dagata also participated in Crowley’s cadet shipping program where they worked aboard Crowley vessels.
A junior at GLMA who is on track to graduate with a degree in maritime technology in January 2022, Barnett grew up in Eastern Washington where his father introduced him to recreational sailing on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
